Speaker:  Thomas E. O’Toole, Chief Licensing Officer, Deputy Director Technology Transfer Office, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
Tom currently serves as the CDC’s Chief Licensing Officer.  During his 27 years at CDC he has held field assignments in the States of Georgia, Florida, South Dakota and North Carolina.  Tom has held a range of senior management positions at CDC where he has worked for several Assistant Surgeon Generals.  He has served on national and international committees, and at the request of the CDC Director, Tom is a voting member on the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Technology Transfer Policy Board.  Tom is a Director on the Georgia Biomedical Partnership board, and he has participated and supported many local and international biotechnology events.

In April, 2006, Tom will be honored with the Irish American Lifesciences Award, presented by Biolink Ireland at a black tie event in New York City.  Tom graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1978.  He received his Masters in Public Health from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill in 1992, where he was inducted into Delta Omega (schools of public health honor society.)
