"Difficult Negotiators: the Bad & the Ugly"

Presentation by: Dr. James Vlazny of Licensing International, Inc.

He will be presenting several negative negotiator types, including some within one's own organization, and with the audience's help suggest ways to deal with these difficult people.

Dr. Vlazny is founder and President of LICENSING INTERNATIONAL, INC. (LINC), a company of service to organizations interested in licensing-in or licensing-out new pharma/biotech products or technologies.  Prior to founding LINC, Dr. Vlazny was Director of the Corporate Licensing Department at ABBOTT LABORATORIES in which capacity he was involved in all aspects of licensing-in and licensing-out new products and projects in Pharmaceuticals, Nutritionals, and Hospital Products.  Previously, he held various positions at G.D. SEARLE & CO., and Morton Chemical Company.  Before joining industry, Dr. Vlazny was Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the Virginia Military Institute. 

Dr. James Vlazny presently serves as a Trustee on the LES Board of Directors and as Co-Chairman of the LES Mentoring Committee, he teaches different parts of the LES Professional Development Series on Licensing, and has served as past Co-Chairman of the Chicago Chapter of LES.  Dr. Vlazny has written articles, chaired workshops, and given many presentations on various aspects of pharmaceutical and biotech licensing around the world.  

Dr. Vlazny was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Loyola University, Chicago, a Doctorate degree in Organic Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago.
