"How Current Regulatory Issues and Trends Can Impact How You Manage and License Your IP"
Wednesday, November 8, 2006
Presentation by: Ron Epperson, National Practice Leader,
IP Services, Grant Thornton LLP.
The regulatory and legislative responses to corporate scandals has resulted
in a more intense focus on internal controls, more timely reporting of significant
events and more focus on risk. Many companies have spent millions of dollars
to comply with the first wave of regulatory requirements. Companies whose
financial performance is highly dependent on how they manage their IP assets
are facing additional scrutiny from regulators and other stakeholders. This
session will provide you with a basic understanding of how this new regulatory
environment may impact your management and licensing of IP, and some specific
actions you can take to help mitigate your risks. Participants will gain
an understanding of the linkage between effective IP management processes
and regulatory compliance. This session will cover existing regulations and
emerging trends, how they apply to your IP management obligations, IP management
techniques that can aid in compliance, and IP specific risk assessments and
internal controls.
