*"MedImmune and Quanta" – Practical Implications in Licensing Situations
Our featured speaker: Troy A. Groetken, Shareholder, McAndrews, Held & Malloy, Ltd.
Troy is a registered patent practitioner in Chicago, and regularly counsels international and Fortune 100 and 500 clients regarding advanced patent prosecution, licensing, complex transactional issues, and global portfolio management matters involving chemical, pharmaceutical and biotechnological matters ranging from new drug (small-molecule, recombinant, combinational technologies, etc.) entities, surfactant technologies, polyols, pharmaceutical supplements, personal care and cosmetic formulations, and renewable energies. Prior to practicing patent law, Troy has worked as a clinical consultant pharmacist, supervised drug research programs, evaluated drug management protocols, and performed drug treatment trials on behalf of the FDA.
Troy is the past-President and current Vice-President/Board Member to the Association of Patent Law Firms. Additionally, he has presented domestically and internationally, on a variety of topics at intellectual property organizations, corporate entities, and law schools. Troy was recently selected as a "Rising Star" by the Illinois Super Lawyers independent survey for 2008.
Troy’s educational background includes a degree from Drake University, College of Pharmacy, B.S., Pharmacy, cum laude, Rho Chi, 1994; Drake University Law School, J.D., cum laude, 1997; and the John Marshall Law School, LL.M., Intellectual Property Law, with Honors, 1998.
