"Facilitating Technology Transfer via the Internet"
Key Learnings, Observations, and Medium Changes Over the Past Four Years
Speaker:
Mr. Ben du Pont
President
QED Intellectual Property, Inc.
Intellectual property licensing via the Internet imploded over the past four years, yet certain organizations like QED have survived and even thrived in this highly competitive market space. We've seen the total revamping or departure of many companies like Ventius, Patex, Corporate Intelligence.com, and Tech Exchange Online just to name a few. Why? What secrets lie behind the success of companies like QED which has seen growth of over 60 employees in 6 countries, and calls a quarter of its clients from the Fortune 1000 list?
In this season's first meeting of the Fairfield-Westchester Chapter of LES, Ben will share his knowledge and experience to help us understand the numerous market factors and business practices that impact technology transfer over the Internet. He promises to enlighten our horizon regarding the tenets of success in this dynamic medium, and guide our thoughts about how to successfully integrate an Internet-based licensing model. Ben ends his discussion by offering his insights on the transformation of a company's infrastructure that will be necessary to take advantage of the definite future role of the Internet and licensing.
Mr. Ben du Pont is President of QED Intellectual Property, Inc., the world's largest technology brokerage firm. Ben is also amember or Scipher plc which owns QED. Under Ben's leadership QED closed 29 technology licensing deals last year for companies including P&G, DuPont, Caterpillar and Bayer. Ben founded the market leading Internet licensing firm, yet2.com, which was acquired by QED earlier this year. Prior to founding yet2.com, Ben spent 14 years with DuPont in a variety of leadership positions for the Specialty Chemicals, Fibers and Automotive business units. To his credit, Ben was also co-founder of www.emeron.com and www.digitaleye.com in 1994. He has a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and is an avid sailor, pilot, and windsurfer. Ben lives with his wife Laura and 1 year old son in Boston, MA and Wilmington, DE.
