Prior Event at Fairfield-Westchester Counties Chapter
Chapter Homepage
LES Holiday Meeting Summary:
"The Grapple in the Big Apple" took place on Dec. 11th at the world's second most famous arena, The Yale Club, NYC. The Main Event featured two seasoned professionals: Lou Berneman grappling on behalf of academe ("ego and envy") and Jay Simon representing industry ("fear and greed").
Out of the red and blue corner, Lou started things off with a flurry of body shots: "We own the IP. We own the IP. We own the IP." Out of the green(back) corner, Jay countered: "You may own the IP, but why can't you sign it away?" After six rounds of world class sparring, NYC Co-Chair John Kidd stepped in and stopped the fight, calling it a draw.
The standing room only crowd came from all over the NE Corridor, representing three LES local chapters: NYC, Fairfield-Westchester, and Philadelphia. Debate was lively, the wine was flowing and everybody left sated and merry.
It remains to be seen if anyone calls for a rematch.
