Program Overview:
American companies may be missing out on millions and even billions of dollars in revenue precisely because their executives aren't aware of the true value of their intellectual property and miss strategic opportunities in protecting these assets. Today, business economics if not corporate survival demands that companies:
- Need Awareness & Understanding Of Their Industry Dynamics & IP Environment
- Have to Integrate Their Business, Technology & IP Strategies
- Must Proactively Manage Their IP Portfolio
The stakes in protecting and defending intellectual property are huge and climbing sharply:
- Patent infringement litigation has increased over 70% since 1993. The total size of patent litigation awards and patent royalty settlements can be staggering. More than $300 billion is registered in unpaid infringements, most of which are innocent.
- Patent licensing fees grew from $15 billion in 1990 to $120 billion in 2002. Source: U.S. News & World Report. Today it is estimated that nearly $200 billion is collected in licensing fees. IBM collects nearly $1 billion per annum. An estimated $200 Billion is written off from intellectual property impairments.
Speakers:
John Kidd, Global IP Practice Leader for Clifford Chance (who oversaw 125 IP Litigators worldwide) and Jim Myers, Partner, Fish & Nave IP Group of Ropes & Gray, are internationally renowned IP litigators who will share, debate and enumerate on insights gained from some of their most high profile cases in patent infringement litigation.
Who Should Attend:
Licensing Executives, IP Counsel, CEO’s, CFO’s, CTO’s, Law Firms and Consultants as well as any Business Leader who is integral to the process of protecting assets and maximizing the ROI for intellectual assets.
