Richard Razgaitis
Managing Director
InteCap, Inc.
At the recent 2001 LES Annual Meeting in Palm Desert, California, Richard Razgaitis (aka: RAZ) gave one of the most engaging, profound and entertaining plenary talks ever heard. It is our good fortune that he's giving it again at our second annual year end event. No matter what industry you're in, Raz has something for everyone. If you were there and heard this brilliantly original and creative presentation, then you know it's worth hearing again. If you missed it, then you're in for a real treat.
Biographies are great teachers of choices and consequences expressed in the lives of the human subjects. In this talk, we will consider "IP Deal Biographies" for a similar purpose, to consider: What were the key deal-making choices? What were the consequences? and What in the world were they thinking? 20 IP deals of significant success ("Wow"), and failure ("Whoops") will be displayed for study and proposed take away lessons (10 "So Whats?"). The scope of cases considered will span from 1901 to 2001, encompass opportunity licensing and litigation outcomes, and span low/no-tech to near/but not rocket science. Finally considered will be the role of infrastructure transformations.
Dr. Razgaitis is a Managing Director with InteCap, Inc., with over 25 years of experience working with the development, commercialization, and strategic management of technology with a specialization in the commercialization of intellectual property. He has been responsible for the licensing-in and licensing-out of numerous technologies, including advanced materials, manufacturing systems, software, and communications technologies. In addition, Dr. Razgaitis has been involved with commercialization efforts of technologies originating from federal laboratories, and has negotiated commercialization agreements with a wide variety of clients in the United States, Europe, and the Far East. Dr. Razgaitis is the author of a book on technology valuation, Early Stage Technologies:Valuation and Pricing and holder of four U.S. patents.
