Topic: From Mash-Ups to Avatars - Safeguarding Brand and Content Integrity in New Online Uses

Now that domain names seem old school, along come avatars and mash-ups to make licensing interesting. To get their message through to tech-savvy consumers - and get a leg up on infringers - licensors are experimenting with putting their brands and content to work in fantasy worlds, social networking, and user-generated content, From YouTube to FaceBook to Second Life, this program looks at ways to manage risk and maintain trademark and copyright integrity in new online channels.

Mark Traphagen has advised clients in trademarks and copyrights for over 20 years. Mark is counsel to the International Anticounterfeiting Coalition, was active in enactment of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA), and served as consultant for "Choices and Consequences," Court TV's award-winning public service program.
