Imagine your engineering staff has invented a new platform technology. Alternatively, another company has invented a platform technology that complements your technology really well and is available for licensing. Everyone thinks the technology is a blockbuster, but where and what are the markets (think DuPont Kevlar), and how big are they? You can try to figure it out yourself, or you can hire the experts to come up with a market analysis and an action plan for getting to the markets.
Join Suzanne Mitchell of New Edge, Inc., a Washington consulting firm that evaluates markets for technology, at our meeting on April 12.
NewEdge Bio
NewEdge began with a problem. In 1992, the Department of Energy’s Pacific Northwest National Laboratory was looking for ways to diversify the economy. It turned to Dr. Pamela Henderson, who was on the faculty of Carnegie Mellon University and then Washington State University. She quickly saw a need for a new research method that would simultaneously identify products and markets from technology platforms.
This led to the creation of Disruptive Market Research™, which gains access to high-level decision-makers, collaborates with them to create products that they will eventually adopt, and develops strategies that will work in their industries. Further research revealed that the method offered valuable insights and strategies, which helped companies with mature products in mature markets innovate to gain additional market share.
Working with more than 150 clients, from start-ups to Fortune 500s, revealed that success came when disruptive insights and strategies were translated into action. This prompted NewEdge to add capabilities and partners in branding, sales, product development, launch, and more. These capabilities are supported by NewEdge staff, who have PhDs, MBAs, and technical degrees, and have been recognized for their expertise in the Wall Street Journal, on CNBC, the Washington Post, NPR, Harvard Business Review, and numerous international publications.
The program has been approved for one hour of CLE credit.
