Mountain States Chapter Upcoming Event LES Mountain States Chapter Speaker Series Wednesday, August 20, 2008 TOPIC: In this presentation Robin Phelps will discuss how a few in industry are leveraging the federal government's huge funding of research at universities as a source of IP for new products and what CTEK is doing to build a more efficient and effective bridge between the industry and university arenas. Discussion will include current best practices for launching businesses with new technology, and what part CTEK plays in this process. Also included is how to expand the possible applications of the new technology. Robin Phelps is the COO of CTEK, CTEK is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering and supporting regional innovation and entrepreneurship through capital resources, community venture centers, an advisor network, technology transfer, education programs and community events. She is a consummate technology entrepreneur who thrives on taking an entrepreneurial business from idea to vision to launch - developing the strategy, the team, the business model and the capital sources. Her undergraduate degree is in Math/Computer Science from Pepperdine University; she completed her M.S. in Management from the University Of Denver Daniels College Of Business where she did her thesis on models of technology transfer. She is currently pursuing her PhD at University of Colorado Denver School of Public Affairs with a focus on science and technology policy and technology transfer.
