Abstract:      
Recent activities south of the border paint a changing picture for the rights of US patent holders.  Please join us for a discussion with Mary Ann Dillahunty and Tina McKeon covering:

  • the US Supreme Court decision in MedImmune v. Genetech and its implications for licensing,  
  • the Quanta case pending before the US Supreme Court and its potential impact on the limits of patent exhaustion,  
  • patent reform passed by the US Congress and pending in the US Senate, and
  • the new patent rules for practice before the US Patent Office.

Background:
Mary Ann Dillahunty's career in the biopharmaceutical industry spans several decades and her experience ranges from patent portfolio development and prosecution to regulatory affairs consulting, business development and research science. Her responsibilities at Oncolytics include maximizing Oncolytics' patent potential for REOLYSIN® while offering senior level counsel to the Company on its strategic development.

Tina McKeon is a principal in Fish & Richardson’s Atlanta office. She specializes in intellectual property matters related to life sciences.  She also serves as adjunct faculty at Emory Law School in a multidisciplinary program called Technology Innovation: Generating Economic Results. Following law school, Dr. McKeon served as a law clerk to the Honorable Judge Stanley F. Birch, Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, Atlanta (1996-1997).
