Win-Win to Windfall: An Evolution of License Practices
Richard Donaldson retired from Texas Instruments in 2000 as
a Senior VP and General Patent Counsel, after 31 years of service. At
TI he developed and implemented independent license programs for integrated
circuits, computers, and handheld calculators. Mr. Donaldson personally
negotiated the vast majority of licenses entered into by TI during his tenure. Since
retiring, Mr. Donaldson has been a consultant regarding IP licensing,
and has been a damages expert in several lawsuits. Mr. Donaldson is an
electrical engineer and has an LLM from George Washington University in Patent
and Trade regulation. He is a member of the Missouri, Texas and Patent
bars.
