The LES Los Angeles chapter invites you to a Lunch Seminar, on Tuesday, October 12, 2004. Ms. Rebecca Goodman, Esq., from the Office of Intellectual Property Administration, University of California - Los Angeles, will be the speaker.
Topic: "Licensing - Lessons Learned from Different Industries"
From licensing tacos to licensing technology, different industries can tell us a lot about what works and what doesn't. This talk will compare and contrast licensing experiences ranging from entertainment and merchandizing to franchise and medicine to identify tips, tricks and pitfalls that can be useful to know even when the business context changes.
Speaker Bio: Ms. Rebecca Goodman, J.D., Technology Transfer Officer
Rebecca Goodman is a registered patent attorney holding a B.S. in Biology from Columbia University and a J.D. from the University of Southern California. Ms Goodman currently works as a Technology Transfer Officer with UCLA's Office of Intellectual Property Administration where she is responsible for the licensing and commercialization of university based research inventions. Prior to joining UCLA, Ms. Goodman worked in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry, in both a research and business capacity. As an attorney she has handled intellectual property and licensing matters in a variety of contexts ranging from film, music and entertainment to healthcare and technology to franchise, dealer and distribution arrangements.
