at
Johns Hopkins University , Montgomery County Campus
Academic and Research Building , Room 106
Rockville , MD 20850
5:30 - 8:30 pm
We are delighted to have Mr. David A. Mannspeizer, who will share his insight in regard to research tools. In particular, does Merck v. Integra spell the demise of the research tool patent? The Supreme Court is currently considering this case. In deciding the scope and reach of section 271(e)(1), the Court is likely, directly or indirectly, to substantially impact the value of research tool patents. At the same time, the Federal Circuit may consider, again, the damages implications of infringing research tool patents. Can the combination of these events create a "Perfect Storm" for research tool patents, in which the combination of section 271(e)(1) and damages law renders tool patents an afterthought?
This joint meeting of the Greater Washington, DC and LES Maryland Local Chapters will be held on the evening of March 23, 2005 .
