Michigan Chapter Annual Plan
August 31, 2001
Richard W. Marczewski and Christopher A. Danowski
The Michigan Chapter of LES is planning to aggressively grow the membership and participation in Chapter activities. It is planning on holding five meetings during the next nine months. The schedule and subject matter for the meeting is as follows
" September 28, 2001, Mark Williams from Delphi Technologies, Inc. will unveil the patent portfolio mining process developed by DTI. The process is novel in that DTI was able to use college students to do the portfolio mining. The mining was quick, very inexpensive and the results were excellent. Delphi Automotive Systems at their world headquarters site in Troy Michigan will host this meeting. The meeting will start at 11:30 a.m. and adjourn at 1:00 p.m. Cost for attending the meeting is $20 and includes a catered lunch. " January 25, 2002, the Michigan Economic Development Corporation will inform Chapter participants of the role MEDC plays in attracting high tech companies and entrepreneurs to Michigan. MEDC also works to attract venture capital and angel investors to fund Michigan based entrepreneurs. " March 8, 2002, LES Michigan Chapter participants will be presenting technologies available for licensing. Each presenter will be allowed ten minutes to market the technology being offered. " April 19, 2002, Dr. Jack Simon from the Environment Research Institute of Michigan will present the model that ERIM uses to perform contract and cooperative research projects. " June 7, 2002, this meeting will focus on the Venture process being used at Ford Motor Company.
Meeting details for the remaining meetings are being developed.
The Michigan Chapter will begin a recruiting drive especially targeting automotive companies and their supplier base, attorneys, consultants and chemical companies located in Michigan. Non-LES members will be the focus of this drive and invited to attend local Chapter meetings. The co-chairs plan to use electronic mailings to broaden the reach to LES members and non-members alike. Please feel free to forward these notices to other who may be interested in the meeting subject matter.
