Chuck Dennis, Medtronic The Minnesota Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society invites you and your colleagues to our November monthly meeting. There will be lots of networking going on and we plan to discuss IP management activities and best practices at local companies. There is no need to be an LES member to attend, although we might twist your arm to join LES. To increase the time available to network at these meetings, we will now have the meeting room and coffee available for half an hour after the formal presentations conclude at 1 PM. So bring a pocketful of business cards and your elevator speech!
November 9, 2004 As we come into the annual budgeting season for most organizations, most of us will be faced with identifying metrics to measure our activities. This presentation will discuss metrics used at a variety for non-profit and for profit organizations, and the pros and cons of using different metrics. Chuck Dennis of Medtronic will discuss results of several surveys by LES and others on metrics used in the licensing and contract management fields. Chuck will also discuss some of the things you should consider as you select appropriate metrics, both for your own use and for reporting to your management. Michael Moore of the University of Minnesota will discuss a variety of metrics tracked by the Association University Technology Managers (AUTM) and used by various non-profit organizations, as well as discussions at AUTM about proposed new metrics to better capture induced investment following licensing from a non-profit entity and potential ways of measuring technology transfer effectiveness.
