The Minnesota Chapter of the Licensing Executives Society, together with the Minnesota Chapter of the Society of Competitive Intelligence, jointly invite you and your colleagues to a half day session on Technical Intelligence.
Speakers & Content:
- Jay Paap, President of Paap Associates, serves on the faculties of Cal Tech's Industrial Relations Center, MIT's Executive Program, is a Fellow of the Society of Competitive Intelligence Professionals
- Mitchell Altschuler, Ph.D., Licensing Associate, Health Technologies, Patents and Technology Marketing, University of Minnesota
- David Hughes, Vice President, Technology Sourcing International
This half-day session will take you from the theoretical to the practical and the creative aspects of Technical Intelligence (TI) as we discuss TI's role in the innovation process and specific techniques for gathering and acquiring technical information and turning it into actionable intelligence.
- First Dr. Paap will cover the elements of innovation; how TI is critical in identifying new needs and new technologies, and in monitoring competitor's activities. He will include specific case studies and an overview of some useful techniques.
- Next, Dr. Altschuler will present a brief overview as to how he uses the Internet to address the information demands in his current position as a licensing associate at UMN.
- David Hughes will conclude with "Scouting for New Technologies: Going Well Beyond the Obvious". This introductory presentation focuses on creative scouting for new technologies and for solutions to vexing problems. It provides a hands-on, creative approach to augment traditional, often sophisticated methods used by many companies today. The emphasis is on putting in place an entirely different process for defining problems and technology needs, developing sources for solutions or technologies and bringing those solutions in-house. The presentation addresses how to do what is needed to deliver concrete results: How to look in unexpected places; encouraging deviation, tangents and unconventional approaches; how to build networks outside your industry; and how to work around the internal obstacles we all fight every day.
Join us for this engaging discussion of Technical Intelligence with some of today's thought leaders. There will also be plenty of time for networking so bring lots of business cards and enjoy meeting new members of the Twin Cities competitive intelligence community and the Licensing Executives Society (LES). Breakfast with plenty of food, juice and hot coffee will be served.
Cost/Payments/RSVP: The cost for the meeting will be $50.00 for LES or SCIP members and $60.00 for non-members. Please click here to RSVP online no later than February 11th. Please register early as total registration will be capped at 120 people, LES' portion will be capped at 80.
