and Commercialization at the Small Business and Technology Development Center
(SBTDC)"
SPEAKER:
Dr. Mary Beth Thomas - Director of Technology and Commercialization at the Small Business and Technology Development Center (SBTDC).
Dr. Thomas has been with the SBTDC since May 2005. She has counseled
with start-up and early-stage technology businesses in areas of business planning,
partnering and strategic planning and assists in the SBIR/STTR outreach program.
As Director, she supervises the SBTDC’s Technology Group with counselors
at six locations across the state. She actively participates with local
entrepreneurial organizations on events that focus on improving the commercial
environment for small technology-based businesses. The SBTDC is North
Carolina’s business and technology extension service and is administered
by NC State University on behalf of The University of North Carolina system.
Before joining the SBTDC, Dr. Thomas was Assistant Director of the Neurosensory
Program at Tranzyme Pharma, Inc. at the Research Triangle Park and the Assistant
Director of the Neuroprotection Program at Cogent Neuroscience, Inc. in Durham. She
served as a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Neurobiology at Duke
University.
Dr. Thomas graduated with her Ph.D. in Developmental Biology from the University
of Cincinnati and graduated with high honors in Biotechnology at the Rochester
Institute of Technology. Dr. Thomas has received awards and honors from the National
Eye Institute, the Department of Neurobiology at Duke University, and as the
Student Representative for Developmental Biology Graduate Students at the University
of Cincinnati.
ADMISSION:
Early registration fee of $25.00 through February 9th. Registration
fee increases to $30.00 for registrations received after February 9th. Seating
is limited and will be on a first come, first serve basis. Registration

CANCELLATIONS:
LES is required to provide the number of registrants to the meeting venue at
the time of the registration deadline and guarantee payment for each registrant. For
this reason, refunds or credits can only be provided to registrants who provide
notice of cancellation prior to the registration deadline stated above. This
policy applies to registrants requesting delayed payment at the door (by check)
as well as those registered online in advance.
LES Research Triangle Park is a local chapter of the Licensing Executives
Society (LES). We gather together professionals who engage in managing,
valuing and licensing technology. You may participate in our chapter’s
