Attn: CA Attorneys & Paralegals: This LES Chapter Meeting will qualify for 1.0 Credit of California MCLE

The US Government is the "800-Pound Gorilla" when it comes to funding advanced technology, and has been for decades. Yet many technical resources languish unused because technology developers are either unaware what resources are available, don't know how to access them or, worse, are afraid of the red tape and hassle of dealing with federal bureaucrats. This presentation will de-mystify the process, describe the many ways private companies can leverage their research/development efforts many-fold, and show practical ways businesses, attorneys, consultants and others can tame the 800-pound gorilla and get it to do tricks. Key federal programs will be surveyed, important DOs and DON'Ts will be highlighted, and helpful contact points and background information will be made available.

Norm says this only sounds like a dull topic; in fact, you'll come away with a mental list of steps you'll want to take right away to get your share of your tax dollars back.

Norm Brown has been active in federal technology funding and transfer for 15 years. He was Principal Investigator on the 1st-ever contract competitively awarded by the Federal Laboratory Consortium for a tech transfer demonstration project for the nation's laboratories. He's served on two Regional Technology Transfer Centers for NASA, has worked with a half-dozen federal laboratories on specific technology commercialization projects, and currently works for SAIC, which enjoys one of the nation's top-rated reputations as a government contractor. Norm also serves as Chair-Elect for the San Diego LES Chapter.
