"Outsourcing"

This meeting will be held on

Tuesday, February 12, 2008
6:00-8:00 p.m.

THE FEBRUARY MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE HILTON LA JOLLA TORREY PINES

PANELISTS:
Ilene Tat-Tong:  Global Procurement Executive, Symmetry Medical
Gary Gilmore:  CFO, Althea
Dwight C. Olson: Senior IP Advisor, CONSOR
Liz Bui, Ph.D., moderator:  Director of Intellectual Property, Novocell, Inc.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Outsourcing became part of the business lexicon during the 1980s and, in general, refers to subcontracting a process to a third-party company/supplier. The contractual agreement between the parties defines the transferred services, i.e., the client agrees to procure the services from the supplier for the term of the contract. Business segments typically outsource include IT, customer support and call center functions (customer services, market research, manufacturing, engineering), accounting and modernly, biologic/biotechnology processing and/or manufacture.  The panel will discuss issues related to outsourcing, such as the reasons for outsourcing, IP transfer/loss, contract issues, risk management, regulatory/product control, and reversion to in-house solutions.
