"MAXIMIZING VALUE OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY BY GENERATING REVENUES IN NON-STRATEGIC MARKETS"

This meeting, the final meeting of the '07-'08 year, will be held on

Tuesday, June 3, 2008
6:00-8:00 p.m.

Special Election Meeting

At the June meeting we will be voting on the incoming chapter chair-elect.  Those who are interested in running for the position should send their names by e-mail to Sam Tahmassebi (sam@biotechnologylawgroup.com).  Names received after May 31 will not be placed on the ballot.

THE JUNE MEETING WILL BE HELD AT THE HILTON LA JOLLA TORREY PINES

PANELISTS:
Michael L. Fuller, Partner, Knobbe Martens (moderator)
Timothy Gendreau – Founder, Principal and Chief Revenue Strategist, The Gendreau Group
Jason Howe – Chief Executive Officer, Awarepoint

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
In today’s competitive business environment, is important that companies realize the full value of their intellectual property. Companies generally own IP that has applications beyond or outside of their target market. Often, such IP is either underutilized or not utilized at all. Instead of neglecting or abandoning such IP, revenues can be generated through licensing in non-strategic markets.  Issues related to licensing software IP in non-strategic markets will be discussed, including identifying assets outside of the company’s core business, evaluating the value in the marketplace of such assets in view of available competing technologies, identifying target licensees, and maximizing the value of such assets to potential licensees through further research and development or aggressive patent filing strategies. Partnering, sales, and other divestiture strategies (e.g., donation of IP) will also be discussed.
