PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
Mr. Ladra will provide an overview of MedImmune and Federal Circuit and District Court post-MedImmune decisions.  He will share his analysis of strategies and best practices for dealing with the changed standards for declaratory judgment jurisdiction in the context of patent licensing negotiations.

SPEAKER’S BIOGRAPHY

Michael Ladra is a partner in Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati's litigation practice. Michael joined Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in 1980 and has played an integral role in developing and growing the firm's intellectual property litigation practice.  Michael has more than 20 years of experience as a patent litigator and counselor. He has litigated more than 50 patent cases and tried more than a dozen, including matters before federal courts throughout the country and actions in the International Trade Commission (ITC).  Prior to joining the firm, Michael was an associate at the San Jose law firm of Ruffo, Ferrari & McNeil from 1978 to 1979. Previous to that, he was trial counsel with Ebben & Brown.  He received his B.A. in Philosophy from Princeton in 1971 and his J.D. from University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 1974.  Michael served as lead trial counsel for:

  • SanDisk in its victory against Samsung before the ITC
  • Tessera in its win over Sharp and Texas Instruments
  • UMC in its trial victory against Oak Technologies
