To License or to Litigate: Facts you need to know
Topics covered will include time from filing to trial, expense, confidentiality issues, increasing interest in patent cases by the Supreme Court and a greater use of mediation/arbitration to resolve disputes.

Russell has for the past several years led a workshop at the LES Annual meeting entitled Top 10 Court Decisions of the Year affecting licensing,  This workshop is one of the most well attended workshops at the annual meeting.  Building on the Top 10 platform, Russell recently was the keynote speaker at the LES ANZ annual meeting where he spoke on the Top 10 Things You Need to Know About U.S. Patent Litigation. Mr. Levine is a Partner at Kirkland & Ellis LLP.  He specializes in patent infringement litigation and patent licensing and has written and lectured extensively on these legal topics.  His practice also includes Section 337 proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission.  Russell has been active throughout his career in numerous bar associations.  He currently serves as an International Delegate to the Licensing Executives Society International ("LESI") organization and as Chair of the LESI Patent and Technology Licensing Committee.  He is a past chairman of the Young Lawyers Committee of the AIPLA, and a past chairman of the LES (USA & Canada) Litigation Committee.  He is a member of the ABA, the AIPLA, the Federal Circuit Bar Association, the International Bar Association and the International Trade Commission Trial Lawyers Association.

Russell was recently inducted into the International Directory of Distinguished Leadership Hall of Fame for his contributions to the field of Intellectual Property.  He also for several years running has been recommended by his peers in a statewide survey by the Leading Lawyers Network to be among the Top Lawyers in Illinois in Intellectual Property. He holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Engineering and a B.S. in Economics, both degrees from the University of Michigan.  He received a law degree from the University of Chicago, and he is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.   He is admitted to the bars of Illinois, New York, District of Columbia, the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal, 3rd, 7th and 11th Circuits, the Northern District of Illinois, the Eastern District of Wisconsin and the Eastern District of Michigan.

Take the Mercer St. exit
Bear right onto Fairview
Turn left at the light at South lake Union (Valley St.)
Valley will turn into Broad St.

Turn right into the Art Institute Parking Lot.
