Topic: Many of our region's industries have untapped revenue potential in their Intellectual Property portfolios. The use of IP assets to improve corporate bottom lines is both a common topic among LES members, and will be discussed from the aerospace point of view in this evening's presentation by Gene Partlow, Vice President of Boeing's Intellectual Property Business. The Boeing Intellectual Property Business, which includes both attorneys and licensing specialists manages a portfolio of more than 3,800 patents and related IP for the Boeing Company, including recently acquired aerospace companies such as McDonnell Douglas.
Speaker: Mr. Partlow has been active in LES (USA & Canada) since 1995, serving as trustee for the past three years. Gene has been an LES plenary and keynote speaker and served as Committee Chair and panelist for several LES Workshop and Add-on Sessions. Currently, Gene is vice president, Intellectual Property Business, a profit center of The Boeing Company. He is also president of the Boeing Management Company, a wholly owned subsidiary that manages the Boeing intellectual property assets. Previously, Gene held numerous positions in engineering, finance and marketing at AT&T before he led its patent licensing program. He left AT&T to launch the Intellectual Property Business of Lucent Technologies, which he grew to over $500 million in revenue annually. Gene received a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management.
