With the capital market's rebound in 2003 and the continuing scarcity of venture capital money, companies are once again starting to consider the option of going public. For some companies, the risks and requirements associated with being a public company are far outweighed by the benefits. Naomi Morisawa De Koven, a business and securities lawyer, will present the core considerations involved in making the critical decision to become a public company. She will also briefly highlight aspects of a new focus in Ontario on capital pool companies as vehicles to go public versus the traditional IPO.
