Licensing a property presupposes the licensor has rights to license. This
can be complicated if, as is often the case, the innovation in question has
been created by an employee. This discussion will:
- Provide an overview of innovation ownership issues
- Provide guidance as to innovation ownership best practices
Steve Leach practices intellectual property law with Ridout & Maybee
in Mississauga.
Steve’s legal practice is focused on helping Canadian and international
clients secure and license patent, trade-mark and copyrights.
Steve is a member of the Canadian Intellectual Property Office “Bank
of Speakers” and has given presentations on intellectual property law
to various bodies including the Hamilton and Markham Chambers of Commerce,
Seneca College and the University of Toronto at Mississauga.
