Universities and hospitals are facing increasing pressure to demonstrate the value of the research they do to the Canadian public. One measure of this is the movement of university/hospital inventions into public use in the form of new drugs, new diagnostic methods, new medical devices and new treatments. But to achieve this, hospitals and universities need to partner with industry and find investors. Conversely, industry often has to deal with hospitals and universities during the testing and clinical trial process. What ethical concerns do hospitals and universities face when they get into business? How will these concerns effect licensing deals? What ethical obligations must be acknowledged when industry and institutions work together? This panel will address these concerns.
COST: $20.00. Includes a light lunch. Payable at the door.
