Keynote speaker - Nancy Mathis, PhD., P.Eng.
Nancy Mathis is the inventor of the patented thermal effusivity sensor technology developed at the University of New Brunswick while doing her PhD. Nancy is the winner of many awards including the prestigious $100,000 Manning Innovation Principal Award last year.
Hear how Nancy licensed technology rights from UNB and formed Mathis Instruments Ltd. in 1995 to commercialize her innovative technology to measure product characteristics for non-destructive quality control applications. During the past nine years Nancy has pursued her business vision and effectively utilized her technical and business management skills. In 1999, Mathis Instruments obtained venture financing and has since grown to 35 employees. Mathis Instruments now applies its intellectual assets to provide quality control monitoring equipment for a wide range of product applications including: pharmaceutical, petroleum, electronics, paint, automotive, aerospace, tire & rubber, insulation, food, textiles, plastics and packaging. Major customers include: IBM, Proctor and Gamble, Avery Dennison, Dow Corning, AstraZeneca, National Research Council Canada, ExxonMobil, GE and Wyeth.
This event will provide the opportunity to learn more about the Manning Innovation Awards and the Licensing Executives Society. It is a great opportunity to meet past Manning Award winners as well as professionals and academia involved with innovation and issues related to intellectual property and technology commercialization.
