About the Speakers:

Ronald E. Dimock
RONALD E. DIMOCK is a partner of the law firm DIMOCK STRATTON LLP. Called to the Bar in 1976, Ron has been certified by the Law Society of Upper Canada as a Specialist in Civil Litigation and in Intellectual Property (Patent, Trade-Marks and Copyright) Law. He has appeared as counsel in more than 35 patent, trade-mark and copyright trials in the Federal Court of Canada and on more than 20 patent, trade-mark and copyright appeals in the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. He attended law school at Queen's University where he also obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics and engineering (with honours) in 1971. He is also a Professional Engineer.

He teaches a graduate level course on Remedies in Intellectual Property to LL.M. students at Osgoode Hall Law School of York University and taught Patents to law students at Queen’s University Law School and Copyright to students enrolled in the Advanced Course on Copyright sponsored by McGill University and I.P.I.C. Ron is the Editor of the book entitled 'Intellectual Property Disputes - Resolutions and Remedies', by Carswell-Thomson Publishing and is the Editor-in-Chief of the Federated Press – Intellectual Property Journal.

Ron has been named as the leading patent lawyer in Canada in Euromoney Legal Media Group’s MIP Guide to the World’s Leading Patent Law Experts and has consistently been ranked by Lexpert as one of Canada’s top IP litigation lawyers.

Donald H. MacOdrum
Practice Overview - Partner with Lang Michener LLP, Barristers and Solicitors, Patent and Trademark Agents, in the firm’s Toronto, Ontario, Canada office. Currently Chair of Lang Michener partnership and Chair of Lang Michener’s Intellectual Property Group.

Practices in the area of civil litigation with a principal focus on intellectual property litigation (patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs, confidential information) and contract litigation (technology licences and agreements, intellectual property licences and agreements, and other complex contracts).

Counsel in numerous major cases over the past 36 years in the Ontario trial and appellate courts, the Federal Court, the Federal Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

Sessional lecturer at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law teaching a course on Patent Law.

Publications - Author of case book “Patent Law in Canada, Cases and Materials” updated regularly since 1995. Author of numerous articles and presentations on patent law and other IP topics and on various litigation topics, particularly IP litigation.

For past 9 years, has presented the “Update on Patent Law: Legislative Changes and Case law” at the Law Society of Upper Canada’s annual seminar “Intellectual Property Law, the Year in Review.
