Freedom to operate issues for biotech startup companies

The Vancouver chapter of the LICENSING EXECUTIVES SOCIETY invites all LES members and friends to a presentation on the intellectual property freedom to operate analysis which every startup company should conduct when developing a new product. This presentation should interest firms undertaking research, development and commercialization of biotechnology, and those helping them.

DATE: Wednesday, October 25, 2006.

SUBJECT: Freedom to operate issues for biotech startup companies

SPEAKER:  Carol Nottenburg, Principal, Cougar Patent Law, Seattle.

Carol obtained a Ph.D. in Genetics from Stanford University, and subsequently pursued a research career on faculty at the Clinical Division of the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle.  After graduating magna cum laude from Seattle University Law School, she joined the law firm of Seed and Berry in Seattle, Washington.  At Seed and Berry, Carol had primary responsibility for a number of small biotech company clients, with whom she focused on integrating patent and business strategy. Carol accepted a position in Australia as chief legal Officer and Director of CAMBIA, a non-profit, private research institute advisor to the Australian Commonwealth Government.  After this role, Carol moved back to Seattle and established her own patent law business.

COST:     
$20 for LES members, $30 for non members.
$15 for full-time students at a post-secondary institution
