The Vancouver chapter of the LICENSING EXECUTIVES SOCIETY invites all LES
members and friends to a presentation on intellectual property and licensing
in and with Southeast Asia, including issues relating to cross-cultural
licensing between North America and Southeast Asia. This
will be the first of a series of presentations over the next two months
about doing business in Asia (see “Upcoming Events”
list below).

SPEAKER INFORMATION:
Patrick Mirandah
will discuss intellectual property protection in Southeast Asia and technology
licensing in and with Southeast Asia, and alert us to issues peculiar to
protecting intellectual property and doing business in and with Southeast Asia.
Patrick is
the CEO and founder of PATRICK MIRANDAH CO. (PMC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Previously
with ELLA CHEONG MIRANDAH & SPRUSONS, Patrick has moved back to the
original company founded by him, PMC, which has offices in KL, Singapore, Jakarta, Hanoi, Bangkok
and India. Patrick
has been active in progressing the Malaysian intellectual property (IP)
industry since 1986. He also plays an active part in formulating Malaysian
IP Policy, and is a registered patent attorney and trademark agent in both Malaysia and Singapore. Patrick’s firm offers specialized
local expertise in all areas of IP services including patents, trademarks,
designs, domain names, copyright, licensing and franchising and anti-counterfeiting
initiatives. On the litigation front, Patrick is currently involved
in a major litigation proceeding in Penang (known as the Silicon Valley of the East).
