LES Vancouver Chapter Meeting

The Vancouver chapter of the LICENSING EXECUTIVES SOCIETY invites all LES members and friends to a presentation entitled "ADR Clauses in License Agreements".

DATE: Wed., May 3, 2006

TIME: 12:00 to 1:30 - Lunch, presentation, and questions.

PLACE: Bull, Housser & Tupper, 3000 Royal Centre, 1055 W. Georgia St., Vancouver

SPEAKER: Bruce O’Connor, Seattle

While in active practice over a period of 40 years, Bruce O’Connor represented a broad range of clients located in the US, Canada, the UK, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan, Taiwan, China, and other countries, in a broad range of IP matters worldwide that include the obtaining of statutory IP rights, transactional work, and litigation and ADR work.  Currently, his practice is limited to intellectual property counseling and management, expert witnessing, and acting as a neutral in alternative dispute resolution.  He is a member of the Commercial, Domain Name, Large Complex Case, and National IP Panels of the American Arbitration Association, the Domain Name Panel of the World Intellectual Property Association, the Domain Name and Intellectual Property Panels of the National Arbitration Forum, the International Panel of National Arbitration and Mediation, and the Commercial Panel of the Commercial Arbitration Association of Taiwan.

Mr. O'Connor received a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati (1965) and a Juris Doctor degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. (1969). Active in the Seattle community, Mr. O'Connor has served on the Board of Trustees of Seattle Opera and as general counsel for Seattle Symphony. 

SUBJECT:        Mr. O’Connor will discuss the effective use of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) (eg. mediation, arbitration, etc.) in intellectual property cases, and appropriate ADR clauses in license agreements.

COST: $20 for LES members, $30 for non members
$15 for full-time students at a post-secondary institution
