Election Process for Chair and Chair-Elect
of the Healthcare Industry Sector
The elected positions of the Healthcare Industry Sector are "Chair" and "Chair-Elect". All other positions are appointed by, and serve at the pleasure of the Chair. The following outlines the election process the sector will strive to follow in selecting its leadership.
- About 90 day prior to the Annual Meeting, the Chair of the Industry Sector will call to order a temporary Nominating Committee, consisting of the Chair of the Sector, with the other members being the Chair Emeritus (AKA Immediate Past Chair) and the Chair-Elect of the Sector.
- This Nominating Committee will seek nominations and consider various candidates that may be submitted by LES members if recommended by a member of the Executive Committee of the Healthcare Industry Sector.
- The Nominating Committee will recommend a Slate of willing and qualified candidates, consisting of one (1) Chair and one (1) Chair-Elect for the following approximate one year term (end of Annual Meeting of the current year to the end of the Annual Meeting of the following year).
- About 60 days prior to the Annual Meeting, the Chair of the Industry Sector will report the Slate to the Executive Committee of the Healthcare Industry Sector, and hearing no objections, will accept a motion to bring the nomination period to a close and to endorse the Slate. If there is an objection, the Nominating Committee is to consider and resolve such objections, unless such objection is withdrawn.
- At the Annual Meeting, during the beginning of the Industry Sector Meeting, the Chair of the Sector will conduct an election of the Officers, by asking a member of the Executive Committee to report that;
"In keeping with the Election Process described on the LES Healthcare Industry Sector's Webpage, the Executive Committee of the Sector has sought nominations and established a Nominating Committee to consider the suitability of various candidates for Chair and Chair-Elect of the Sector for the coming term. Furthermore, now that the Nominating Committee has completed its work, the Executive Committee has passed a resolution closing the Nominating Period and endorsing the recommendation of the Nominating Committee for a Slate of __________for Chair and __________Chair-Elect. As such, it is my pleasure to move that this endorsed Slate be elected by the members of this Industry Sector."
If this motion is seconded, the Chair is to then perform a simple voice vote on the motion. Immediately following the election of the Officers by the members, the Nominating Committee is to disband, its function having been competed.
