The functions of the High Technology Sector are as follows.

1. Provide a forum for education, discussion and networking for all interested LES members concerning the transfer and licensing of technology and products in the industries covered by its various High Technology Committees: Computer hardware and consumer electronics, Software, Telecom, Internet and e-commerce, Nanotech, Semiconductors, Biomedical devices, Digital content, and Transportation.  The Sector also provides a forum for, and has a Committee directed to, industries affected by the Standards process.
2. Through the personal experiences of its members, better understand and articulate problems associated with tech transfer and licensing in high tech industries and seek solutions to those problems.
3. Disseminate the results of the High Tech Committees’ work within LES through publications, presentations at LES meetings, and special, educational seminars.
4. Support the High Tech Committees, as well as provide the infrastructure to allow new Committees to develop in emerging, high tech fields.
5. Assist with and promote communication among professionals in diverse high tech industries, so as to encourage more effective licensing and transfer of complex, interdisciplinary technologies.
6. Cooperate with LESI, as well as professional organizations outside of LES, to promote more effective licensing practices.
