Committee Mission Statement:

• Provide a forum for education, discussion, and networking for LES members interested in technology transfer and licensing in the Transportation & Aerospace industry.
• Provide a forum to share personal experiences & best practices in licensing
• Provide a forum for presentation and discussion of issues important to companies operating in the Transportation & Aerospace industry
• Foster collaboration within the Transportation & Aerospace industry and related fields, such as semiconductors, consumer electronics, etc.
• Introduce and champion the LES and LES membership to the Transportation & Aerospace community.

Objectives:

1. Provide opportunities for involvement  
2. Solicit New Membership from other Sectors and LES in general
3. Solicit interest in the following potential Workshops:
1. IP Strategy for DOD Contractors - The value of IP when your customer is the U.S. DOD - what's a patent really worth given "authorization and consent"?  (addressed in Workshop at Spring 2007 LES meeting)
2. Valuation of your IP Portfolio - how do you know what's in your IP chest?
3. Licensing "non-core" IP assets  (subject of Workshop to be presented at 2008 LES Annual meeting)
4. IP Benchmarking - how do you know how you stack up vs. your key competition?
5. Organizational structure and its impact on licensing effectiveness
6. Best practices for identifying and vetting value creation opportunities for Transportation and Aerospace technology.
4. Identify Owners to drive New Workshops as appropriate.

Current Programming Themes/Tracks:
This sub-Committee will be focusing on the following subject matter areas over the next year:

• Benchmarking of licensing practices within committee members organizations
• Benchmarking of patent award systems
• Education on topics of interest to committee members
• Flowdown of news and information from the High Tech Sector

Between-Meeting Activities (Working Groups; Papers; Projects):

• Monthly telcon meetings for committee members to discuss topics of interest (meetings are brief and to the point).
