Co-Chairs Biographies:
Robert R. Gruetzmacher, Ph.D.
Dr. Gruetzmacher is the
Director of Technology Commercialization in DuPont's Center for Collaborative
Research and Education. During his 30-year career with DuPont, his responsibilities
have included research, development, manufacturing, and marketing in the photopolymer
imaging products and medical diagnostic businesses. He managed DuPont's infectious
disease diagnostics research group in Boston, co-managed a food quality assurance
business venture, and helped lead development of DuPont's technology transfer
group and intellectual assets business.
In his current role in the Center for Collaborative Research and Education
he helps lead DuPont's efforts to find appropriate university partners for
sponsored and collaborative research, negotiates agreements and seeks new business
opportunities with the academic setting and advises company-wide on licensing-related
matters.
Dr. Gruetzmacher holds a Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University, and was
the recipient of a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellowship. He
has served as a trustee of the Licensing Executives Society and participates
in several international forums dealing with topics such as university/company
transactions, knowledge management, and the management and valuation of intellectual
assets. He has authored publications and is invited frequently to gives talks
on these topics. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society, the American
Chemical Society, the Association of University Technology Managers, the American
Association for the Advancement of Science and serves on the advisory boards
of the periodical, Innovation Matters and the Larta Institute in Los Angeles.

Varda Main, Ph.D.
Dr.
Varda N. Main is Director of the Technology Licensing Office at the Rochester
Institute of Technology (RIT) where she is responsible for licensing and intellectual
property (IP) management. She has over 20 years of experience in international
licensing and IP management. Prior to joining RIT, Varda served as Senior
Licensing Executive at Xerox Corporation; Director, Licensing and IP Management
at Los Alamos National Laboratory; and Director, IP Management at Atomic Energy
of Canada Ltd. Varda is an active member of the licensing community world-wide. In
2006 she became co-chair of the Licensing Executives Society (LES) Industry – University – Government
Sector and was LES Meeting Chair of the joint LES – AUTM Spring Meeting
in Philadelphia. In 2002 she co-founded the LES Rochester Chapter and
in 1993 she founded the E-Commerce/Internet Committee of LES and co-chaired
it until 1999. Varda serves on the Advisory Board of the publication "Licensing
Economics Review" and was previously a Trustee of the Licensing
Executives Society. She lectures extensively in the areas of licensing,
commercialization strategy, and IP management. Varda holds a B.S. Honors
in Geology; M. Sc. and Ph.D. in Geochemistry and Mineralogy and a M.A. in Mathematics.

Mr. Nathan Golden
Mr. Golden is a Licensing Executive in the Corporate Business Development
and Partnerships organization (CBD&P) at Sandia National Laboratories. He is
responsible for the management of intellectual property through a strategic intellectual
management and portfolio process, which includes the negotiation of license agreements
for selected organizations within Sandia. His responsibilities also include assisting
Sandia inventing organizations in the management of issued patents. Prior to
joining the CBD&P organization in 2003, he was a corporate internal auditor
at Sandia National Laboratories and performed environmental, safety and health
(ES&H) audits of Sandia’s programs. He has been at Sandia over twenty
years and has held a variety of professional positions while employed at Sandia.
Mr. Golden is the local New Mexico LES Chapter chair. He is also a co-chair
for the Industry, University and Government Transactions Sector - LES (FY 2007).
Mr. Golden earned a MBA/MIS from New Mexico State University in 1984 and
a bachelors in chemistry from New Mexico State University in 1982. He is one
of two BEAC Certified Professional Environmental Auditors at Sandia.
