All About Chicago - A Global Center of Commerce...and more!

ChicagoChicago Business
Chicago is known as a powerhouse business center. Sixty seven Chicago-based companies are listed in the Fortune 1000, including Boeing, Abbott Laboratories and Baxter International. Chicago's diversified economy is based on manufacturing, printing and publishing, finance and insurance, and food processing as primary sectors. Chicago is an international transportation center, with two major airports. Between O'Hare and Midway, travelers usually can find a non-stop flight within the U.S. , and international flights to all major cities in the world. Today, Chicago is rapidly developing a new economic sector based on knowledge and technology. The city is becoming a leading center of the global new economy by fostering start-up businesses and technology transfer, and by concentrating on key high-priority, high-tech areas.

Cultural Attractions
Chicago is an American cultural capital. The Art Institute of Chicago features one of the largest and best-known collections of French Impressionist paintings that can be found outside of France. The downtown Museum Campus is home to The Field Museum of Natural History, The Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium.   Other internationally renowned institutions include the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Science and Industry. Chicago has preserved its Lake Michigan shoreline for public enjoyment. The Sheraton hotel offers easy access to miles of bicycle and running paths along the lake. Head south to Grant Park and Monroe Harbor, and north to Oak Street beach and Lincoln Park. A short walk from the Sheraton is Millennium Park, with its striking Frank Gehry music pavilion, distinctive outdoor sculptures, and award-winning gardens. The city comes alive at night with world-renowned blues, jazz and comedy clubs. For epicureans, Chicago is a movable feast. In addition to local favorites, like Chicago hot dogs, deep dish pizza and Italian beef, Chicago features an endless variety of restaurants that feature every type of American and international cuisine. Information on attractions and a calendar of events may be found at www.choosechicago.com.
