Fun Run/Walk
Tuesday, October 19 - 6:30 a.m.
$25 per person
The Boston Marathon, now in its
108th year, is the world's oldest annual
marathon and is arguably road racing's
most prestigious event. The marathon
distance is 26 miles, 385 yards
(42.195 Km). The first marathon
runner, Phidippides, expired at the
finish line.
The LES Annual Fun Run/Walk, on
the other hand, has been "running" for
just 15 years, and is arguably road racing's
least prestigious event. The distance
has been merely 5 or 10km. No
LES member has yet expired from participation
in an Annual Fun Run/Walk,
although many may have reached their
"best before" dates.
What is the connection? Sign up
for the 2004 LES Annual Fun Run/
Walk and you can trace a training
route along the Charles frequented by
many of Boston's famous marathoners.
This year's Fun Run/Walk will make a
5km tour past the Museum
of Science, MIT and BU. The cost of
this fun and phenomenal exercise?
A nominal $25.00, which includes
T-shirt, refreshments, prizes and all
the encouragement you could
ever want.
