InterDigital Communications Corporation Receives Licensing Achievement Award

Award is the most prestigious recognition offered by the Licensing Executives Society

NEW YORK, NY, SEPTEMBER 11, 2006 - InterDigital Communications Corporation (Nasdaq: IDCC) has been awarded the Licensing Achievement Award by the Licensing Executives Society (USA & Canada).

The award is the most prestigious form of recognition an organization can receive from LES. It was established to acknowledge organizations that have made outstanding contributions to intellectual property licensing or other technology transfer activity.

InterDigital is a recognized pioneer in the design, development and delivery of advanced wireless technology platforms.

Advanced inventions, technology, and systems developed by InterDigital are embedded in all digital cellular wireless communications devices, such as mobile phones, mobile computing devices, and infrastructure equipment.

Among InterDigital's licensees are the companies producing today's most popular brands such as Nokia, Samsung, LG, NEC, Sharp, Sony-Ericsson, Panasonic and Blackberry.

"Within the cellular industry InterDigital is globally recognized for monetizing patented inventions through successful licensing programs," explains LES President Dwight Olson, who is also executive vice president of TAEUS International. "This is the type of leadership that demonstrates to companies around the world how they can use intellectual property licensing to expand reach of their inventions. It is what drives innovation and makes the products we use that much better."

"We are thrilled to be honored with this award," says InterDigital President and CEO Bill Merritt. "We have worked extremely hard to build a successful licensing program. This award validates our contributions to the wireless industry around the world."

Patent and technology licensing represented nearly 94 percent of the $163 million in revenue InterDigital generated in 2005. Recurring licensing revenues for the first half of 2006 grew to $104 million.

Previous recipients of the Licensing Achievement Award include Genentech (2004), the U.S. Department of Energy (2003), IBM Corporation (2002), Pfizer (2000), and Stanford University (1999).
