Licensing Executives Society Profile
Established in 1965, the Licensing Executives Society (USA and Canada), Inc. (LES) is a professional society comprised of over 6,000 members engaged in the transfer, use, development, manufacture and marketing of intellectual property. LES members includes a wide range of professionals, including business executives, lawyers, licensing consultants, engineers, academicians, scientists and government officials. These professionals represent large corporations, professional firms, and universities. LES is a member society of the Licensing Executives Society International, Inc. (LESI), with a worldwide membership of more than 12,000 members in 30 national societies, representing over 80 countries.
Networking
LES members enjoy formal and informal opportunities to share information on best practices, trends and the latest licensing resources. With more than 30 local chapters in key technology transfer centers throughout the United States and Canada, LES offers a full calendar of education and networking events. Through meetings, educational programs, and ongoing contact, LES brings together a broad range of licensing professionals with common interests and similar professional goals.
Meetings and Education
LES holds three major meetings per year:
- LES Winter Meeting
- LES Spring Meeting
- LES Annual Meeting
The Winter and Spring Meetings provide in-depth education and networking opportunities. In addition to these features, the Annual Meeting also includes a Tech Fair that features exhibits from many companies that serve the licensing profession. LES also offers Technology Transfer Seminars and a Professional Development Series, which attract individuals who span a wide spectrum of job functions and industries.
Local Chapters
LES has more than 30 chapters. Chapters are located in geographic areas where there are sufficient concentrations of LES members. LES local chapters hold periodic meetings at which members and outside speakers make presentations on topics relevant to technology transfer and licensing.
