Chapter Launch

LES Québec

MapOn June 13th, the newly established LES Québec Local Chapter held its inaugural event in Québec City, Canada. Featured speaker, Marc-André Sirard, Assistant Vice Principal of Research at Université Laval, provided the audience with an inspirational and thought provoking presentation about the city’s increasing research potential and the role that the university is playing in the local technology transfer community. Antoine Bellemare, Chapter Chair, also gave a presentation about the local chapter’s goals and activity program for the coming year.

Organizers were delighted by the turn out of 30 attendees (in large part LES nonmembers) and honored by the presence of Peter Ross, Canadian Chapters Trustee, who gave the opening address. The event helped generate paid registrations from new members and served as a valuable opportunity to reach non-members with information about the LES.

The event received many supportive comments regarding LES becoming active in Québec City and encouraged the many volunteers offering to help this chapter get off the ground
