Guide for Article Submission to les Nouvelles
The following are guidelines to help authors prepare papers for publication in les Nouvelles, the journal of the Licensing Executives Society International.
les Nouvelles is published quarterly and is designed to further the Society’s objectives of assisting members in improving their skills and techniques in licensing and protecting Intellectual Property. The journal consists of two general sections. One contains papers on substantive topics related to the Society’s educational objectives, and the other relates to activities of member Societies and licensing news and developments.
Papers on substantive topics submitted for publication in les Nouvelles are acknowledged by a letter from the editor shortly after receipt. The author is asked to sign and return a "License to Publish" that is provided (a copy is reproduced on the reverse side of these Guidelines). The paper, meanwhile, is reviewed by members of the LES International Editorial Review Board, and the author is advised of the results of that review.
Hints to Aid Authors:
It is vital that a paper relate directly to licensing. The lack of licensing content is the most common reason for rejection of papers.
Publishable topics related to technology transfer can be wide-ranging. We are especially interested in case studies on actual licensing transactions. Since we are not a legal journal, topics relating strictly to legal protection of Intellectual Property are seldom published. Our primary focus is on the business, legal and economic aspects of the transfer and commercialization of Intellectual Property.
There are few mechanical requirements. It is always best to keep a paper as brief as possible. A good maximum length is 20 double-spaced pages, but we have published longer papers.
Substantive papers as well as Society-related articles may be submitted via mail, courier, facsimile or e-mail. A disk is not necessary.
