2007 Rings In With Advanced PDS Courses

There is no doubt to those who have attended the LES Professional Development Series (PDS) that the curriculum is top-notch when it comes to raising the level of knowledge and skills for licensing professionals. Through the years, Intellectual Asset Management professionals have relied on two course levels: Fundamentals of Intellectual Asset Management (IAM)—for those with fewer than three years of experience, and Intermediate IAM—for those who have completed Fundamentals or who have received approval from the LES Education Director for a waiver. Jon Wood, LES Trustee for New Offerings, shares the excitement of many as LES prepares to launch two new advanced-level PDS courses in 2007.

Topics under consideration for the advanced-level are Strategic Alliances and Legal Issues in International Licensing. If approved, these will be added to an Advanced series that began with Advanced Negotiation Skills, first presented in 2004. The second course of the series is Advanced Valuation Skills, which was piloted recently in San Francisco and was heralded as a great success. Additional opportunities will be offered in the coming year, at the Advanced Negotiation Skills on April 18-19 and at the Advanced Valuation Skills on June 13-14. See the calendar for details.

Certificates of completion are awarded to those who complete the Fundamentals course and to those who complete the Intermediate course along with four additional different PDS workshops (these are offered at the LES Winter, Spring, and Annual Meetings). The new advanced PDS topics under development will enhance the leadership position LES holds in offering licensing education. Be sure to look for more information at www.leseducation.org.
