LES – A Family Tradition
by Linda Corcoran

Licensing and LES membership are more than a profession and a vocation for many LES members. In fact, after 40 years, LES has several second-generation members who have continued in their fathers’ footsteps with active involvement in LES.

“It is a privilege to meet people who know my family because of my dad’s professional involvement,” says Richard Razgaitis, Jr., referring to his father Richard Razgaitis, Sr., who is a long time member of LES and current President of the Licensing Foundation.

“As soon as I got into a management role, my father encouraged me to join LES. At one of the organizations I joined as an executive, licensing was paramount to our company’s growth. It was a period of critical need that prompted me to elicit my father’s advice and to join LES,” states Raz Jr. “LES enabled me to network and identify opportunity to take the company to the next level. Plus, I have developed a special friendship with my dad because of our professional affiliation.”

LES member, Art Rose, fondly recalls family trips to LES meetings with his parents, Alan and Betty Rose. The Rose family enjoyed participating in tennis tournaments, which were held at Annual Meetings at that time. After joining LES himself, Art ran the tennis tournament at the Hawaii meeting, where his dad won a trophy.

“The LES group has been like an expanded family,” says Art. “People are willing to help when you have questions about your profession or otherwise. This is a group that attracts a wide variety of accomplished people, all of whom are well educated and have a wealth of knowledge to share.”

LES roots run deep in many families. Those that have spanned the generations with LES include past-president Wm. Marshall Lee and son, William M. Lee, Jr.; Suzanne Harrison and father Patrick Sullivan; Dale Hogue and Dale Hogue Jr.; as well as Hank and Harold Wiesman. LES is proud of this professional heritage. If you know of other second-generation LES members, please contact the LES office, info@les.org.

Note from Bill Lee Jr…. Dad was President during the three Bills (in a row)—Bill Campbell, Bill Riley and Bill Lee. Bill Campbell is deceased, Bill Riley is, unfortunately, in a nursing facility with Alzheimer’s, but Bill Lee is still going strong at almost 85 (in February). He is still flying single-engine airplanes and towing gliders, though he is now on hiatus for the winter.
