Vancouver Local Chapter Plays Key Role In Meeting

It takes a village (so the saying goes) to put on an LES Annual Meeting. This year, the Vancouver Local Chapter played a key role in providing a warm Canadian welcome. "Our entire Board made a big effort to get local interest in the meeting," states Chapter Co-Chair Herb Regehr.

"We also provided a bridge from the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada (IPIC) Annual Meeting, which took place just before the LES Annual Meeting, by hosting a Dim Sum brunch on the Sunday between meetings," says Herb. More than 300 people attended the event.

As the word of the Annual Meeting spread, local publicity grew with articles appearing in a widely read weekly business magazine as well as in national publications. Local business organizations were encouraged to set up on-site booths and provide publicity on their Web sites.

An army of students was on hand to help with registration and other tasks. Other chapter members were involved with organizing the ever-popular tennis and fun run activities. Other key players in the Chapter are Co-Chair Brad Wheeler and Past Chair Hilton Sue.
